Owner's Description

Set in 3 acres of orchard land, Appleacre is a small, family owned park situated at the edge of Fowlmere in rural South Cambridgeshire, offering homes for the retired and semi-retired.
With the friendly atmosphere at Appleacre you can enjoy mixing with like-minded people and become part of a community that looks out for each other, making it a caring and safe place to live.

FOWMERE VILLAGE
Fowlmere is an attractive village with a population of approx 1200. It enjoys a strong sense of active community through the numerous activities of the local church, clubs and societies.

Park residents are welcome to join the Fowlmere Sports and Social Club, located just across the road where they can enjoy all the club facilities and relax in the comfort of the licensed bar.

The village pub and the Chequers and Swan restaurants are all within close walking distance and the stop alongside the Park provides regular bus services to Cambridge and neighbouring villages.

A pleasant walk from Appleacre will take you past Manor Farm to the RSPB Nature Reserve. There the reed-beds and pools are fed by the natural chalk springs with a stream running through the Reserve. Birds include kingfishers, water rails and up to nine species of warbler.

LOCAL PLACES OF INTEREST
The famous university city of Cambridge, 9 miles to the north, offers excellent shops and numerous restaurants. For entertainment there are cinemas & theatres and for relaxation, beautiful walks can be enjoyed through parks, college grounds or alongside the River Cam.

The Imperial War Museum, situated in the neighbouring village of Duxford is a former Battle of Britain fighter station. Home to the largest collection of military and civil aircraft in Europe, the museum retains its wartime atmosphere as many of its aeroplanes still fly.

For members of the National Trust there are stately homes and Trust sites within a short drive of the Park such as Wimpole Hall, Anglesey Abbey and Audley End House.

TRAVEL CONNECTIONS
Appleacre Park is only 3½ miles from Junction 10 of the M11 motorway with easy commuting routes to Cambridge, London and other locations in East Anglia and the Midlands.

The nearest railway stations are Foxton (3 miles) and Royston (5 miles) which provides frequent, fast services to London.

For those who enjoy holidays in Europe or wish to visit friends & family in Scotland, Ireland or Northern England, then a 25-minute drive along the M11 takes you to Stansted Airport from where low-cost airlines operate regular flights to numerous locations.
Appleacre also includes a small residential park with homes for the retired and semi-retired. The village shop, pub and restaurant are all within close walking distance and the stop alongside the Park provides regular bus services to Cambridge and neighbouring villages.
